12/24/2023 0 Comments Sony soundbar dolby atmosThis is understandable given its positioning as an affordable soundbar. Another concession is only offering optical audio, with no HDMI options, meaning there’s no Dolby Atmos here. ![]() Unlike its Beam and Arc counterparts, the Sonos Ray does not include an in-built microphone for use with smart assistants like Google and Alexa. There are a few omissions the Ray makes in its quest for affordability. You can also use various control methods with the Ray including a TV remote, Apple AirPlay 2, or the proprietary Sonos app. As is commonplace with Sonos speakers, the Ray can connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi to other Sonos-branded speakers, such as a pair of Sonos Ones, to create a full home theatre listening experience or play audio across multiple rooms at once. With your size room it's strongly recommended to add a sub - in the Ambeo owners thread the SVS 10 pro series seem to be popular (SVS sweet spot is subs with smaller cabinets with larger drivers, plus they have their own apps with lots of control).Ĭheck out the Ambeo owners thread and reviews on YouTube (Andrew Robinson) and for more insights. Some of Sonos Ray’s key selling features include balanced sound, solid bass, and crisp dialogue, the latter of which is aided by Speech Enhancement technology to boost dialogue clarity. But in a big room with large TV it should look fine. The one (obvious) downside to the Ambeo is it's size - it is a beast. it has a standard sub pre-out port so you can add the sub of choice that would be best for your room.full range of audio format support for Dolby, DTS, LPCM, etc.best in class room-correction software (improves the reflected surround-sound and upfiring atmos speakers performance).full size upfiring speakers for real atmos.probably the best soundbar for listening to music.biggest drivers of any soundbar so the midrange is excellent and almost sounds like bookshelf speakers. If all you do is stream content then the limitations of the Cinema 600 won't really matter but if you watch blu-rays, game or have an AppleTV 4K the Cinema 800 is likely the better choice.Ĭlick to expand. If you want an atmos standalone soundbar system (no wireless separate surrounds) and it's in your budget the Sennheiser Ambeo is likely the best solution. The Cinema 600 only has one HDMI-ARC port and only supports the "lossy" Dolby Digital (DD) and standard 2.0 PCM (uncompressed stereo). It supports "lossless" Dolby TrueHD (used on blu-rays) and uncompressed multichannel LPCM audio (used by gaming consoles, AppleTV 4K, etc.). One other advantage to the Cinema 800 is it has dedicated HDMI-IN ports as well as an HDIM-eARC port. The Cinema 600 received many good reviews, particularly for clarity and dialogue (see and Andrew Robinson on YouTube). Both the Cinema 600 and 800 come with a wireless 10" sub, have the option to add a second wired sub (of your choosing), and have the option to add the Klipsch wireless surround speakers later for around $200. Not many reviews but the overall sound quality is considered quite good, especially for bigger spaces/rooms.įor $500 there is also the Klipsch Cinema 600 3.1 soundbar and sub combo. The Klipsch Cinema 800 has does have "virtual" atmos audio, but like most "virtual" atmos setups it works so-so at best.
